Working with Puma Steel is the most sustainable choice.

Structural steel contains at least 93% recycled content and it is 100% recyclable, making it reusable for generations.

Only American steel can do that.

What Makes Building with Structural Steel Sustainable

All structural hot-rolled shapes produced in the US, including typical wide flange beams and columns, are made in Electric Arc Furnaces (EAF). This process uses electricity to melt old cars, appliances and other scrap into new steel. EAF steelmaking has 75% less emitted CO2 than traditional Basix Oxygen Furnace (BOF) steelmaking. Actually, the majority of emissions related to EAF steel making comes from the power grid itself.

American made steel is the least carbon-intensive of all major steel producing countries. And is continuing to get better. All the largest steel mills in the US have environmental product declarations (EPDs). These steel producers also all have commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the future.

Puma Steel is a Committed Sustainability Partner

Over 95% of all structural steel purchased at Puma Steel has been recycled. Over 95% off all scrap steel is captured and recycled so it can become new steel. With Puma Steel’s highly innovative technologies it allows the total utilization of steel fabricated to be over 95%. Shop drawing are all digital, laptops and tablets are used for throughout the fabrication process, eliminating the need for paper drawings.

Puma Steel’s experience in design build and its Team Puma partners we can help value engineer your project, potentially lowering costs, improve erection schedule and design your project to use 99% recycled steel.
